Hi! I’m Shanna.
I’m a registered clinical counsellor based in Burnaby, BC, offering trauma-informed, anti-oppressive support for individuals, couples, youth, and families. I meet you with gratitude as an uninvited guest on the unceded territories of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh speaking peoples.
I am originally from the traditional territory of the Michi Saagiig (Mississauga Anishinaabeg) which is currently known as Oshawa, Ontario. I moved to the beautiful unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish Peoples in 2019 after living for many years on the unceded Anishinabe Algonquin territory (Ottawa-Gatineau region).
Over the past several years, I have worked with community-based organizations supporting children, youth, and families, as well as individuals navigating a wide range of mental health concerns. I support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addiction, identity exploration, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My approach is culturally competent and trauma-informed, with a focus on building trust, promoting resilience, and supporting meaningful change.
In counselling, I prioritize building trust and creating a space where you can show up authentically, without pressure or judgment. Together, we explore what feels heavy, what feels hopeful, and what is ready to shift. My role is to walk beside you, help you reconnect with your strengths, and support meaningful growth at your own pace.
In my free time I enjoy tending to my plants, practicing hot yoga and attending local events in the Lower Mainland. Therapy is deeply meaningful to me and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside folks during some of their most vulnerable moments.
